Accuracy and verification
- We verify facts with reliable sources before publishing and, where possible, confirm important information with more than one source.
- We clearly separate facts from opinion and attribute claims to their sources.
- We do not publish rumours or unverified social media content as fact.
Independence and fairness
- Our editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, sponsors, business interests and political parties.
- When a story contains serious allegations, we make a reasonable effort to seek a response from the person or organisation concerned.
- We avoid conflicts of interest; team members must declare any personal interest in a story.
Accountability and bylines
Every article shows the author or reporter who wrote it, the team member who published it and — if the story is changed after publication — who updated it and when. Our reporters, authors and editors have public profile pages.
Corrections and updates
If we make a mistake, we correct it as quickly as possible. Significant corrections are noted in the article, and the "Updated" time shows when a story was last changed. To request a correction, contact us with the article link and the details.
Sources
We name our sources whenever possible. We protect the identity of confidential sources when there is a clear public interest and a risk of harm to the source.
Photos, videos and reader content
We credit photographers and sources. We do not publish images that are misleading or that have been manipulated to change their meaning. Content from social media is verified before we use it.
Advertising and sponsored content
Advertising is kept separate from news. Sponsored content is clearly labelled as "Sponsored" and is never presented as independent reporting.
Comments
We welcome discussion. Comments are reviewed and may be removed if they are abusive, defamatory, hateful or spam, or if they break our Terms and Conditions.
Code of ethics and grievance redressal
We follow the Norms of Journalistic Conduct of the Press Council of India and the Code of Ethics under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
